easily amused

A dumping ground for things I find amusing and want to hold on to. Stuff from my real life and/or from my digital life - those lines are often blurred. I'm a 20-something gal living in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies.

My GIF to you

I recently took a trip home to Halifax for a friend's wedding at the Citadel. Great trip, great wedding, great times.

The wedding photographer looked familiar - turns out he also took these gorgeous photos at a wedding I attended last summer. He also makes awesome GIFs and I slipped him $100 mentioned how much I love GIFs 100 several times through the night.

Persistence pays off, kiddos. Or maybe he was just afraid. Probably the latter. Anyway, thanks so much Layton. You made this girl's month.

Check out more photos from Mel and Rene's wedding. Awesome pictures and awesome couple.

Oh sweet mercy. It's like my brain is magically ON the Internet.

I have come across a website that sums up my working life so accurately it's scary. I present to you - What Should We Call Social Media

Dreamy photography

I have long admired the photography of Jan von Holleben, especially his magical creations with children. How creative and fun!

When I become a mother (some day soon, Mom. I promise!) I hope to have as much creativity. Also, you probably already saw them, but these pictures are awesome, too.

Because I am 14 years old...

I found this hilarious. My email does funny stuff like this all the time.

Saturday afternoon pals

A song so beautiful I could cry

My choir is singing this song in an upcoming recital. We have just started rehearsal for this piece, so it's still pretty rough, but I was almost moved to tears last night when singing this.

The poem, "Sure on this Shining Night," was written by James Agee and was put to music by Morten Lauridsen. In his particular cheesy video you hear the University of Montevallo Chamber Singers. The poem is enough to send shivers up my spine. So beautiful:

Sure on this shining night

Of star made shadows round,

Kindness must watch for me

This side the ground.

The late year lies down the north.

All is healed, all is health.

High summer holds the earth.

Hearts all whole.

Sure on this shining night

I weep for wonder wand'ring far alone

Of shadows on the stars.

Hmm. I wonder if this works....

Update: It worked. I don't feel like explaining it what I was trying to do. Just know that I did it and it worked.

Birthday Gif

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! AND I'M 30! EVERYONE DANCE!

I woke up this morning to find this waiting for me on the Internet. My friend Katy is a super gal, loves cats and fun, so it's not surprising she made this. She is the best and this is the best birthday .gif I've ever recieved (ok, it's the only .gif I've received, but it blows any I will recieve in the future right out of the water.)

My favourite thing I've ever done on Twitter

Guys - I'm turning 30 in three days. I'm not upset or scared or freaked out about turning 30. We all get older, all my friends are getting older, I don't want to be in my 20s forever, I'm much more secure with myself now than I was five years ago, 30s are when life really begins, I'm mature, I'm responsible, I have great friends and family, I know how to cook, I look forward to seeing what my 30s have in store, yadda, yadda, yadda. blah, blah, blah.

What does concern me is that I am spending my last weekend of my 20s performing classical music. Part of me feels like I should be getting drunk or skydiving or cow tipping or just generally being reckless. But, it so happens that a concert fell on this weekend and because I'm almost 30 and responsible and shit, I am relegated to two evenings of what might be one of the longest most beautiful pieces of classical music I've ever sung - Bach's St. Matthew Passion. But I'm making the most of it. Really, I am. It's a wonderful piece and an honour to sing. That said, who know classical music puns were SO MUCH FUN?

(Big thanks to Gary Powers/Derek McEwen for being awesome at puns and making this thread pretty rad. If you're not following him on Twitter, you're an idiot. He's funny shit.)

It only took me 5 months....

Media_httpdistilleryi_gcbcf

Finally hung some of the little thrift store finds, gifts and pictures I've been collecting. My home office is turning into quite a pleasant space to collect dust work.

Also, I'm such a procrastinator. I put off doing this for FIVE MONTHS and it only took me FIVE MINUTES. #lessonlearned
